Terms of Service

Version 1.0 · August 2026

Trail Synk is private beta software operated by an individual on personal hardware. It is provided free of charge, it will have outages, and it may lose data. Keep your own copies of anything you care about.

1. Who these terms are between

These terms are an agreement between you and the operator of this Trail Synk installation ("we", "us"). By creating an account you accept them. If you do not accept them, do not create an account.

2. Your account

You are responsible for keeping your password secure and for everything done through your account. Tell us promptly if you think someone else has access to it. You must be old enough to enter a contract where you live.

3. Connecting trail-camera accounts

Trail Synk can sign in to third-party trail-camera services (such as Spypoint, Reveal, or eufy) on your behalf in order to fetch your photos. By connecting such an account you represent that:

We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or partnered with any trail-camera manufacturer or service. Their names are used only to say which services Trail Synk can connect to.

4. Your content

Your photos remain yours. You grant us only the permission needed to run the service: to store your photos, process them to identify wildlife, and show them back to you and to anyone you choose to share a property with. We do not sell your content, and we do not use it to train models for anyone else. See privacy & data.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to use Trail Synk to:

We may suspend or remove an account that does any of these.

6. Automatic species identification is not a guarantee

Species labels, counts, antler estimates, and hunting predictions are produced automatically and will sometimes be wrong. They are informational only. Do not rely on them for legal compliance, tag decisions, harvest reporting, property decisions, or safety. Verify anything that matters by looking at the photo yourself.

7. No warranty

The service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free, or that any data will be preserved.

8. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, photos, profits, hunting opportunity, or property, arising out of or relating to your use of the service — whether or not we were advised such damages were possible.

Our total liability for any claim relating to the service will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or fifty US dollars.

Some places do not allow these exclusions, in which case they apply to you only as far as the law allows.

9. Ending the agreement

You may stop using Trail Synk and ask us to delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end an account, or discontinue the service entirely, at any time — this is beta software and it may simply stop. We will make a reasonable effort to give notice before shutting the service down, so you can retrieve your photos.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. If we make a material change we will ask you to accept the new version the next time you sign in. Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept it.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Texas.
